The notion of spectator intervention on a storytelling narrative is old and intrinsic to the very act itself os story telling. In truth, we could argue that the success of the classical narrative: linear and with causality, following a single character, is due to the ease that the spectator can project him/herself into that same carachter and view the narrative threw his/her eyes in Robert McKee – “Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principals of Screenwritting”. It Books, 1st edition 1997).
Also, to the notion of “narrative” we can associate the notion of “game”: soft frontiers where the narrative consumption from the spectator and its intervention as an active agent on the story itself is merged, something seen since the post-modern theatre, to the contemporary video-game where all reality is manipulated through the player/spectator.
